ASTA Technologies design and manufacture high precision backlash setting machine for eliminating backlash in differential. This machine provides precise method to move the crown and pinning through a NUT assembly. A precision encoder is mounted with pneumatic Collet arrangement to measure the backlash.

One of the backlash setting machine is installed at Carraro, Pune.

Specifications

  • The project includes the design, concept building & development of Assembly Machine for the Driveline differential of an earth-moving vehicle.
  • After setting the preload and arranging the crown and bevel in the differential housing sets the desired backlash.
  • The backlash setting procedures includes the movement and fixing of the crown and pinion contact through a NUT assembly.
  • The backlash is measured by locking the differential bush through a pneumatic Collet arrangement and turning the coupled wheels and measuring the backlash through the encoder system.
  • The backlash of the system can be set and measured at an accuracy of 10 micron.
  • After Setting the Backlash in the differential, Final preload of the system is set and measured through an inline torque cell.
  • Hardware used: PCI cards, LabVIEW 8.5 software, Torque sensors, encoders and servo motors were used for this machine development.
  • The Setting parameters of Backlash and Final Preload value are set from SAD ( network from Pinion Preload Machine), The reports are further saved on SAD.
